Young Ham of the Year
2022 ARCA Young Ham of the Year
Ashtyn Timberlake, KI7HHU was named
the 2022 ARCA Young Ham of the Year. She was nominated by the Yavapai Amateur
Radio Club where she was one of the first 500 students to study and receive her
license through the club's Youth Amateur Radio Club. Ashtyn has helped to
organize, participate in, and teach at local and club events. She not only
helped plan activities at the club's ARISS event, but was selected to speak with
the astronaut on the International Space Station. More than 600 people
participated in the event.
Ashtyn learned skills as a young ham and was able to put them to use. She
designed and built a rapid deployment emergency repeater and taught electronics
and robotics to others. She acts as a mentor to the club's young hams as well.
Ashtyn's has great potential to have a positive impact in Amateur Radio and on
the world around her. She is committed to working with young hams and empowering
them. Ashtyn is a great asset to the Amateur Radio Community and very deserving
of this award.

2023 ARCA Young Ham of the Year
Nominations for the 2023 ARCA Young Ham of the Year are currently being solicited. Nominees must be under the age of 18 years and should have made contributions to the hobby. Letters of nominations must be made by an ARCA Affiliated Club on club stationery and signed by a club officer (not related to the nominee). The letter should list the reason(s) the club feels the nominee should receive this honor. Nominations must be received by ARCA no later than May 1, 2023 to allow time for compilation of the nominations, voting, and plaque preparation. Voting is done by the last 11 recipients of the Ham of the Year award. Results will be announced at the 2023 Annual Meeting.
