2025 ARCA Young Ham of the Year
Cameron Legan, KK7OLN
Cameron Legan, KK7OLN was named ARCA 2025 Young Ham of
the Year. Cameron was nominated by the Radio Society of Tucson. He was first
licensed in September 2023 and began attending meetings at the club. In January
2024, Cameron was nominated for Secretary and elected to serve on the RST Board
of Directors.
Cameron is a Scout Troup 157 member. He has helped at the RST hamfest in the
troup's field kitchen. He also helped sell electronic items donated to the scout
troop. Cameron has been active in the ARRL Field Day, Winter Field Day, and
Arizona QSO party. He is also practices containerized gardening and helped to
refurbish and expand the vegetable garden at Gale Elementary School in Tucson.
Cameron is also interested in cooking planning meals and supervising the Dutch
oven roasting and baking for scout troup campouts.
Cameron is a freshman at University High School in Tucson where all of his
varied classes are Advanced Placement.

2026 ARCA Young Ham of the Year
Nominations for the 2026 ARCA Young Ham of the Year are currently being solicited. Nominees must be under the age of 18 years and should have made contributions to the hobby. Letters of nominations must be made by an ARCA Affiliated Club on club stationery and signed by a club officer (not related to the nominee). The letter should list the reason(s) the club feels the nominee should receive this honor. Nominations must be received by ARCA no later than May 1, 2026 to allow time for compilation of the nominations, voting, and plaque preparation. Voting is done by the last 11 recipients of the Ham of the Year award. Results will be announced at the 2026 Annual Meeting.
